- Verifying all the
weights and measures such as weights, length, area, volume, number,
others of business establishments, such as all sorts of whole sale and
Retail shops, Godowns, petrol bunks, fair price shops, industrial units,
and others, and affixing official seals, collecting the verification
fee, as per the rule in force.
- Verifying all the
packaged commodities, with reference to, Name, Weights, Rate, Date of
manufacturing, details of manufacture details of packer if any and other
relevant information.
- Issue of both
verification certificate (one year) and use certificate (valid for
5 years.
- Issue of certificate to
the manufactures, repairs and dealers, with reference to the weights and
measures.
- Attending site stamping
works , based on the request of the users of weights and
measures.
- Conducting General and
surprise inspection on all the business establishments as official
duties and based on the complaints of the public also.
- Collecting verification
fee, compounding/Fine amount for compounding cases, and Remitting the
weekly amount to S.B.I Yanam.
- Submitting the weekly
Report/Monthly Report/Fortnight Report to the controller of Legal
Metrology, Pondicherry.
